The new websites, videos, catalogues and experience guides use a livelier, more agile and direct language to connect with Sitges’ different audiences

The Sitges City Council’s Tourism Department has presented its new promotional materials, developed as part of the Sustainable Tourism in Destinations Plan (PSTD), funded by the European Union through the Next Generation EU funds. The renewal includes three websites aimed at different audiences, four promotional videos, product catalogues and experience-based tourism guides.

Sitges Mayor Aurora Carbonell highlights that “the new tools will help increase the visibility of businesses, create opportunities and foster a more balanced tourism activity throughout the year”.

Tourism Councillor Daniel Martínez Bardala explains that “the objective is clear: to highlight what makes Sitges unique and turn our resources into experiences that encourage people to visit us throughout the year. Culture, food and wine, and nautical tourism play an important role in this strategy, which we have developed together with the local sector”.

The overall set of tools responds to a shared objective: to increase the visibility of Sitges’ diversity and make it easier to turn its attractions into experiences that encourage visits. Culture, food and wine, and nautical tourism play a prominent role in this strategy, which seeks to diversify the tourism offer, promote tourism activity throughout the year and create opportunities for local businesses.

A livelier and more direct way of telling the Sitges story

The renewed materials introduce a new communication style: livelier, more agile and more direct. The content focuses on what people can do, discover and experience in Sitges, using engaging messages adapted to different interests and channels.

The four new promotional videos — one showcasing the destination as a whole and three focusing on cultural, nautical, and food and wine tourism — bring this approach to audiovisual communication. The videos highlight Sitges’ distinctive character and the experiences it offers, with an engaging perspective that invites visitors to discover and experience the destination.

This approach extends across all the newly created materials, which share a common vision: presenting what makes Sitges unique through its experiences and connecting them with the people who can enjoy them.

Three websites to connect with three audiences

Sitges Tourism’s new digital presence is structured around three websites, with content tailored to the needs of each audience.

The Sitgesanytime website, aimed at visitors, provides information and suggestions to discover the destination and plan a stay according to individual interests. Experiences and tourism content are presented in a more direct way, encouraging visitors to explore Sitges and enjoy it throughout the year. New tools include a trip planner, an events calendar, a chatbot and an accessibility guide to tourism resources.

The website for tourism professionals serves as a reference point for the local tourism sector. It brings together useful resources for businesses, including a free-to-use image bank for tourism promotion and access to the Tourism Intelligence System, as well as studies and activity reports, among other resources. The portal provides access to destination knowledge and offers tools to prepare communication campaigns, identify trends and make better-informed decisions.

The Sitges Convention Bureau website is aimed at organisers of congresses, conventions, meetings and incentive trips. Its objective is to showcase the municipality’s specialised offer and facilitate the planning of professional events in the destination.

From tourism resources to experiences

As part of the tourism product development project, new product catalogues have also been created in collaboration with local businesses in the fields of nautical and cultural tourism, and food and wine tourism. As a result, three product catalogues make it easier to discover the offer and help visitors find proposals tailored to their preferences, with the aim of better connecting local supply with demand and promoting tourism that contributes to Sitges’ economy throughout the year.

The catalogues increase the visibility of local businesses’ activities and services and reinforce what makes Sitges unique. They also serve as a tool to support the marketing of the tourism offer at trade fairs, professional events and other promotional activities organised by the Tourism Department throughout the year.

These resources are complemented by new experience-based tourism guides, which help visitors discover proposals according to their preferences and plan their stay. Together, the materials aim to diversify the reasons for visiting, promote tourism activity throughout the year and contribute to the local economy.

The initiative is part of the PSTD “Sitges, a sustainable, competitive, inclusive and smart tourism destination” and is aligned with the 2024–2028 Tourism Marketing Plan. The new materials provide ongoing tools for promoting the destination and supporting the tourism sector, with a value that extends beyond the implementation of the project.
